GMG at the top of Ben Nevis

GMG 27/07/22

Last May 27, GMG climbed another peak, in this case Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland and the United Kingdom. Despite being only 1,344 meters – little more than Sant Jeroni, in Montserrat – the route starts in Fort William, at sea level, and therefore the positive gradient is similar to what is usually done to climb three miles of the Pyrenees . The beautiful scenery of the Highlands, the constant but gentle slope of the path, everything pointed to a pleasant excursion of about 16 km that we could do calmly. But all of a sudden, from 1,000 meters high, the weather changed. The temperature dropped below 0 degrees, the road disappeared under the snow, an icy wind turned and the fog covered everything. Luckily it didn’t take us by surprise, we already knew that this is common in those latitudes, and we were prepared. We were able to make it to the top without any problems, of course, without being able to enjoy the views from the top and without entertaining ourselves much, so as not to end up frozen. It’s like when you’re finishing a project, you think everything is under control, you’re on schedule, and all of a sudden something unexpected happens that changes everything. If you have taken all possible precautions and analyzed all the risks, you will usually find a solution. This from the mountains is good for preparing us for work! We will continue to climb mountains!

We work for sustainability, to mitigate climate change, and to leave a better world for future generations.
