Inaugurated a building with 84 floors for social rent in Vic built by GMG

GMG 21/02/13

On January 17, 2013, the building of 84 social rental homes promoted by CEVASA, in the neighborhood of La Calla in Vic, was inaugurated with the presence of the mayor of Vic, Josep M. Vila d’Abadal, accompanied by general director of Cevasa, Donato Muñoz, by the CEO of TEYCO, Jordi Sumarroca and the project drafting team and in charge of the construction management GMG Plans and Projects.

At the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by half a hundred people, including city councilors, representatives of Neighborhood Associations, entities and institutions of the city, GMG architect Toni Mas, made a visit guided tour explaining the characteristics and conception of the work and highlighted the convergence of the three concepts that make the building a good example of sustainability: energy efficiency, economic efficiency and social efficiency.

This fact has led the building to receive the 2011 Endesa Award for the most sustainable real estate development in Spain. The energy efficiency of the building is achieved thanks to the orientations and solar protections specific to each type of housing, the layout of interior courtyards intended solely to make cross ventilation possible, an external thermal insulation system ( SATE) calculated to reduce the energy need by 60%, a hot water production system and centralized heating from a biomass boiler and a system of individual energy distribution cabinets that allow the energy management of the building

The sheltered rental homes will have a rental price that ranges between 373 and 466 euros per month, depending on their type. These typologies are flexible, as one, two and three bedroom homes have been proposed, where those with one and two bedrooms can incorporate a second and third bedroom respectively, if the tenant so requires, separating a space from the living room provided for this purpose. These rates include the parking space for vehicle and bicycle, community costs, IBI and in some of them the storage room. The city’s food bank and the El Tupí social dining hall will be located on the ground floor of the building.

In the framework of the 2nd Forest Biomass Fair of Catalonia held from February 21 to 23, arranged visits were made to the building. GMG guided the different groups and you explained to the more than 60 interested parties the different sustainability criteria, the energetic operation of the set and the operation of the 300Kw biomass boiler fueled with pellets.
